MOVEMENT DIRECTION
An exciting way to explore body, space and movement as a way to convey feelings and support storytelling.
Let’s create together.
Movement Direction for Theatre
My role is to collaborate with the creative team of a show to realise the physical life of a play through physical language, character’s specificities, choreographed sequences, chorus work and space occupation. In addition, I can work on more specific tasks, such as a body rhythm sequences or stylised transitions between numbers.
My Journey In Theatre
In 2007, after having graduated as an engineer and working for 4 years on international emergencies projects for an NGO, I decided to stop it all and follow my heart. I trained as a musical theatre performer at the Académie Internationale de Comédie Musicale, in Paris and started my stage life.
Eight years later, my desire for exploration led me to move to London, the world capital of Musical Theatre. What I didn’t expect, is that actually my transition to London would lead me to less musical theatre, and more unconventional theatre. I fell in love with the immersive experiences I had and with the alternative theatre scene bringing original, clever, high-quality shows. A new world opened, beyond all kind of categorisation, mixing mediums, places, and styles.
After a bit of searching, I finally found my tribe. An international company based in London, bringing stories from around the world to UK audiences, creating explorative shows beyond a traditional theatre experience. It was the first time I was working on a regular basis with a company, and not only on a project based contract. It allowed me to grow, share my skills and develop my passion for the body in theatre.
Who I Have Worked With
In charge of leading the movement and body-rhythm practices for Foreign Affairs company, I then became their movement director. This passion for movement in theatre led me to collaborations with the Butterfly Theatre Company for the movement direction of their show Alice in Wonderland, with Le Choeur de Pierre for the facilitation of a body rhythm workshop and the creation of a body rhythm sequence for one of their performances, as well as with Exhale Festival for the facilitation of a body rhythm workshop.
“I will always remember my collaboration with Franck. I requested him to create a body rhythm sequence on Step In Time from Mary Poppins in order to bring some movement and novelty to a concert with my 60 chorists. In a fun and supportive atmosphere, Franck was able to spot and reveal the best of each of them in order to create a group number that was at the same time accessible and high quality.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Franck Jeuffroy since 2015, and he’s been an invaluable collaborator on numerous projects ever since. Franck brings a wide range of knowledge and expertise to any project, broadening and enriching the creative process. He’s supportive, patient and conscientious, making him a great facilitator, as participants feel safe and free to explore new things and to work outside their comfort zone. Franck’s greatest quality is his positive and enthusiastic mindset, which brightens any rehearsal room!
